Powell River Christian School is a private, co-educational, non-profit school with Group 1 certification. This qualifies the school to receive the educational support grant that is available from the Government of British Columbia.
PRCS offers classes from Preschool to Grade 9.
Presently our grades are split as follows:

Kindergarten to Grade Two
Grade Three to Grade Five
Grade 6 to Grade Nine
CORE CURRICULUM:
The PRCS offers instruction in the B.C. Core Curriculum expectations for:
* Language Art
* Mathematics
* Science
* Social Studies
* French
Instruction is also provided in:
* Art
* Bible
* Drama
* Music
* Physical Education
* Computer Science
* Library Skills
Field Trips to enrich classroom instruction or widen student perspectives
may be planned. Fees to cover costs are charged. Parent drivers provide
transportation for these trips.
SPIRITUAL IMPACT:
The daily opening prayer and devotions is the first scheduled activity in each class at PRCS. We
also have a weekly chapel service where the students come together as a student body. This time
may feature local pastors, visiting missionaries, parents with special skills or experiences to share,
and student involvement. Parents and all other interested adults are invited to worship with us.
The New International Version of the Bible is the version we have chosen to use in chapel, Bible
classes and in scripture memory.
Commitment to the authority of the Bible throughout the entire curriculum means for example that
science taught from the perspective that God created everything; that history will proclaim the
sovereignty of God in the affairs of men; that literature must be interpreted in the light of a Christian
world and life view; and that Christian life teachings will be based upon God’s design for His
children, including spiritual and moral integrity. These are some of the specific curricular implications
for Christians who want all of education to be “to the glory of God”.
Although we use a curriculum that reflects and encourages a Christian world view, our ultimate goal is
to see the student find fulfillment in their Christian experience. Spiritual growth will be evident in their
conduct and conversation.
Powell River Christian School is a member of the Society of Christian Schools in BC. This educational association gives professional assistance in developing the distinctively Christian dimensions of school operation and curriculum development.
All teaching staff members are certified by B.C. Ministry of Education.
